I know so many people really do not like Mondays. How many people do you know groan at the very thought of Mondays? (Maybe you are even one of those people. Hey, no judgment here!)
Years ago, when I was still blogging regularly on my now-defunct teacher blog, there was a huge issue with the Sunday Night Blues. Folks would spend so much of their Sunday worrying about Monday that they didn't even really get to enjoy the day.
One year, I vowed I was done with that. I was not going to allow feelings of overwhelm or anxiety hold me back anymore! Once I vowed that I would not succumb to the Sunday Night Blues anymore, amazing things happened. I wasn't stressed and dreading Mondays. I wasn't spending my entire Sunday evening fretting over what "might" happen Monday at work (and truthfully, most of the time those anxieties didn't come to fruition so I had literally worried for no reason).
Today is Monday. It is also June 1, which means you get to turn the page on a new week AND a new month. Wahoo!
I know things are uncertain in our world right now with COVID-19 and with all of the riots and destruction that has broken out since the death of George Floyd. We are still pretty locked down here in Michigan. I could rant and rave about it....or I could count my blessings and see today as the gift that it is. I woke up today. I'm healthy. I'm happy. I have many things to be thankful for.
Take a moment today and find a reason to have joy. Monday does not have to be the enemy. Monday can be a day you woke up and got to experience life.
(It should be noted I wrote this post well before the events that occurred after Memorial Day 2020 and updated it to include information about Mr. Floyd's death.)
